The company is now the largest private food tech company in the U.S. by revenue, surpassing $2 billion in 2024.

Key Background:

GrubMarket, the largest private food technology company in the United States by revenue, has raised $50 million in a Series G funding round, boosting its valuation to over $3.5 billion. The San Francisco-based food logistics firm, founded in 2014, has experienced rapid growth, surpassing $2 billion in revenue in 2024. The company now employs more than 12,000 people and operates in more than 70 countries, serving businesses and consumers across all 50 U.S. states and Canada.

The Series G funding round includes investors such as Liberty Street Funds, 3Spoke Capital, ROC Venture Group, Portfolia, and Pegasus Tech Ventures, along with several unnamed investors. GrubMarket’s founder and CEO, Mike Xu, expressed confidence in the company’s continued growth, stating that the funding was an opportunity to align the company’s valuation with its business expansion and the innovations in artificial intelligence (AI) it has integrated into its operations.

GrubMarket’s impressive growth trajectory has been driven in part by acquisitions, enabling the company to integrate its software suite, which includes sales, online ordering, inventory management, and logistics automation. The company’s AI-driven technologies, such as Farm-GPT, an analytics tool leveraging real-time pricing data from the USDA, help farmers and growers optimize their operations. Additionally, GrubMarket’s GrubAssist suite provides AI-powered virtual assistants that offer business insights and analysis.

While the funding round was not crucial for the company’s financial stability, Xu emphasized that it presents an opportunity to further enhance GrubMarket’s technology offerings and solidify its position as a leader in the food tech sector.
