Key Background:

At CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Honda Motor unveiled two new electric vehicle prototypes, the Honda 0 Saloon and Honda 0 SUV, which are set to be manufactured at the company’s state-of-the-art, multibillion-dollar complex in Ohio. Both vehicles are part of Honda’s “0 Series” and are expected to enter production by 2026, with the SUV slated for release first, followed by the Saloon model.

The prototypes signal a significant departure from Honda’s current vehicle designs, boasting sleek, futuristic exteriors and emphasizing the principles of being “thin, light, and wise.” These new designs reflect feedback gathered from the automaker’s previous concept cars shown at CES 2024, further refining their approach to meet consumer expectations.

Honda also introduced an advanced new operating system for its electric vehicles, named “Asimo OS.” This system will enable highly automated driving capabilities, including hands-free driving, enhancing the driving experience. The name “Asimo” pays homage to Honda’s humanoid robot, which was first revealed more than two decades ago.

While Honda refrained from providing specific details on pricing, range, and performance, the company’s Vice President, Lance Woelfer, highlighted that customer feedback played a key role in the development of these new EVs. The vehicles are expected to be a strong addition to the growing North American electric vehicle market, though their official specifications and release dates will be confirmed closer to launch.

This announcement comes just a day after Honda’s collaboration with Sony, which revealed their joint electric vehicle, AFEELA 1, set to launch in California. As Honda accelerates its shift towards electrification, the debut of the 0 Series marks a pivotal step in its ambitious plans for the future of mobility.
