Queen Sylvia Nagginda to Visit Nexus Louisiana to Encourage Global Entrepreneurship

Later this month, the queen of the biggest kingdom in Uganda will make a visit to the Capital Region with the goal of strengthening Louisiana’s ties to the world and encouraging international cooperation and enterprise.

The monarch of the Kingdom of Buganda, Queen Sylvia Nagginda, is expected in Baton Rouge on May 29–30. There are more than 14 million people living in the Kingdom of Buganda.

Sen. Regina Barrow and Nexus Louisiana announced the visit this morning. Nagginda was invited to visit Louisiana by Barrow and Calvin Mills, the interim CEO of Nexus, during a reception held in Washington, D.C. last month.

“We believe that this visit will not only benefit our entrepreneurs but also contribute to the ongoing development of Uganda, presenting a unique opportunity to build meaningful partnerships across borders and bridge the gap between our two countries,” Barrow wrote in a prepared statement.

Nagginda will visit Southern University when she is in Louisiana to look for possible joint ventures between the United States and Uganda. She will speak to the Senate and House of Representatives in Louisiana about the value of international collaborations. Along with Nagginda, Nexus Louisiana has organized an entrepreneurship roundtable.

“This roundtable will provide a platform for our entrepreneurs to exchange experiences and ideas, as well as allow Queen Sylvia Nagginda to share valuable insights and explore potential opportunities in Uganda,” Mills says.

The rise of tech firms in industries like fintech, health tech, and e-commerce that are addressing regional problems and developing solutions is a boon to Uganda’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The nation’s Innovation Village, along with other tech hubs and incubators, are essential to fostering and assisting the expansion of startups.

Through the Geaux Global initiative offered by Nexus Louisiana, business owners can collaborate globally to grow their enterprises.

According to Mills, “thinking creatively and stepping outside of our comfort zones comes with success in the global marketplace.”
