Key Background:
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia and Malaysia Aviation Group have announced a strategic partnership to enhance the travel experience for Malaysia Airlines’ premium passengers. As part of this collaboration, Mercedes-Benz EQS500 and S580e vehicles will be introduced to the airline’s private terminal transfer service at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1. The service is available to Malaysia Airlines’ Enrich Platinum, Business Suite, and Business Class passengers, marking a significant upgrade to the existing transfer arrangements.
The partnership comes as a response to the current limitations at KLIA, where passengers traveling between the satellite and main terminals are forced to rely on shuttle buses due to the delayed resumption of the Aerotrain service, initially expected to return by the end of January 2025. Prior to this collaboration, business class travelers used a specific shuttle bus for transfers. Now, through this exclusive Mercedes-Benz partnership, the EQS500 4Matic electric vehicle and S580e plug-in hybrid will provide a premium, seamless transfer experience for eligible passengers, a service that will continue until the end of 2025.
This service officially began on January 16, 2025, and is available to Enrich Platinum and Enrich Gold members, who will also enjoy additional benefits, such as invitations to exclusive events, special vehicle incentives, and access to My Mercedes Rewards on the purchase of selected Mercedes-Benz BEVs and PHEVs. Furthermore, members purchasing a Mercedes-Benz vehicle will be invited to experience the brand’s heritage in Germany, subject to terms and conditions.
In a further extension of the program, from March 1, 2025, new Mercedes-Benz owners will also gain access to the private terminal transfer service, irrespective of their flight class, which could eventually extend to passengers of other airlines as well. Amanda Zhang, CEO and President of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Partnering with Malaysia Aviation Group allows us to elevate luxury travel experiences for our customers, setting new benchmarks in exclusivity and sophistication.” Philip See, CEO of Malaysia Aviation Group’s loyalty and travel services, emphasized the importance of the partnership, highlighting how it will enhance the overall premium service offerings for Malaysia Airlines passengers both on the ground and in the air.
